whirlwind.affair.in.shanghai

current location @ Sydney

call it the lack of proper holiday-ing in a long time, or anytin else, Shanghai was hell good! although I was quasi-sick the whole time (the rest of the gang dropped like flies too one by one).. that didnt dampen the fun i had.. it only added to the 'uniqueness' and the whole exotic experience of Shanghai

guess it is only when youre this young that u still prowl the streets and find the zest to max out the enjoyment n make the best of everythin while staying at crappy Roach infested dorms *Becky's dark secret*. the group this time was huge, clique-y against the Americans, since us Melb Uni 'doods' formed a huge crowd by itself.

Japanese buffets, XIAO LONG PAOS (god i could eat them forever) @ Crystal Jade and korean BBQs did it for me. bring on the Sake and 'Bek sei ju'! Beef jerkys did well for my stomach, not so good for my throat. then there was combatting and learning the fine art of price-slashing with the sleazy n insistent folks of Xiang Yang market and Qi Pu LU. Us girls knocked ourselves out with funky accessories and manicures, tops, ethnic skirts and cheap-ass shoes @ QPL, and all in all with our LOOT, we could open a mall! Although you REALLY have to dig under the 'oh-piang' clothes covering the good ones.

pub-hopping was a regular occurrence, jazz bar chilling (Jz bar rocks), gossiping about the many scandals FLOURISHING right under our noses (the big group syndrome), R&B shaking outs @ windows & Guandi. Visiting Pudong, the Commercial city of Shanghai, getting up Grand Hyatt (where i got the ecstatic news of Ben's PR!!).. the Hangzhou trip where the sun melted us, not helped by the many Garden tours and Pagodas *huff*, our little hotel Robe party downstairs in the Hotel karaoke, relaxing body and foot massages, and the thai massage with naked-old-saggy ladies which freaked us off.. and the many many cheap EVERYTING! i MAY have cured my passion for shopping in Australia, if only momentarily...*wink*

But at the end of the day, coupled with the exotic-ness and allure of a new place waiting to be explored, it was the great gang ive met which added to it. fun is always better when shared with people who know how to have fun, innit, and ive met the loveliest 'sluts' and 'doods' on this trip - yer all GOOOODDDD!!!!! Haha.. it was heavy hearted partin with the whole communal big gang life we shared for the past month, and worse with the americans like Loobin cos who knows when we'll see them again? but everytin good comes to an end, and melbournians we couldnt escape one another even if we wanted to =)

We had a 'rocking' time, as you call it. not a very detailed rendition, let's just let the pics do the talkin..

But, honestly, shanghai is not a place i would wanna live in. too dirty, too rude, too sleazy. But, for a holiday for non ku-niangs, definitely the thumbs up
